“You’re Never Too Old For Laser Tag!” — my childhood friend Jeremy, a secondary science teacher, said when I was sandwiched between passion (gaming) and profession at 28!
Jeremy wants to revive me from a dicey situation to join the kid’s laser tag party at his school event. I really need a break and refreshment from my daily routine and believe me, not only kids but also their parents and teachers have the same level of fun.
Tech-savvy teenagers now need to understand that rushing with my crush in a hidden area of the laser tag arena was a romantic birthday party option when I was their age. Being a 28-year-old family man with a VIP membership is not the life I expected before!
How Old Do You Have To Be For Laser Tag?
It was my friend Erik’s 8th birthday, and his family planned a surprise laser tag party. I had never experienced it before and joined it as a noob. While most arenas have no age limit, others have restrictions until the minimum age of 5 or 6 years. So, being eligible, I was excited to try something new. When we approached the arena, it felt like entering the Millennium Falcon starship, piloted by Han Solo from Star Wars, my favorite hero at the time.
As soon as the laser tag game began, I immediately fell in love. The rushing through the dark, the sound of dink or dong, dodging laser beams, and trying to overpower my opponents was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I had never felt so energetic when playing laser tag. I was laughing and shouting with my friends, completely involved in the game — adrenaline was at peak level.
Besides playing with friends, when I was a kid, my father, who is now a retired police officer, took me to the local laser tag arena on the weekends. I requested my parents to take me back again and again, and soon it became our regular family activity.
As I grew older, my passion for laser tag never fainted. When I was 12-15 years old, I started joining local events and even competing in tournaments with my friends. My parents were a bit skeptical at first, thinking it was just a phase or they surrendered that this kid would never grow! But they saw how much it meant to me and supported me every step of the way.
I also used to organize laser tag parties for various events— it’s more passion for me than a side business. Now, as an adult, it is more than just a hobby – it’s my passion. I also encourage others to the thrill of the game.

Can Anyone Below 3-5 Years Play Laser Tag?
It’s a game that you can play with all ages with my whole family. I would recommend at least 5 to 7 years to start the game, but it depends on the maturity and physical ability to handle the equipment.
I’ve seen 3 or 5 years kids playing in their basement area or backyard as many professional arenas don’t allow kids below 6 years. Parents should accompany infants at the learning stage with a simplified laser tag set and avoid dark arenas.
You see, starting laser tag at an early age has given me a sense of excitement and adventure. It also helped me build valuable skills such as physical fitness, communication, strategy, and quick thinking, which proved essential to win the game.
Is Laser Tag Good For Kids?
Laser tag has been popular for the last two and half decades as America’s one staple game among kids to adults. Yes, sometimes kids imagined an enemy in their parallel universe and used to target them! But it has no clue or evidence to encourage gun violence or shooting. It is apparently safe for kids — but safety protocols are still the highest priority for parents and organizers.
Laser tag is generally safe for the eyes since the certified guns use infrared beams. Nevertheless, it is critical to ensure that the arena you are visiting follows proper safety rules.
Most laser tag arenas have insurance coverage for safety, injury, or other first aid protections in their field. However, you should confirm with the arena authority about the age or restriction of coverage. I have not had anyone seeking coverage or any injury-related incidents so far.
Is There Any Maximum Age Requirement For Adults?
There is no age limit to retire from laser tag. You can play it with your parents during your childhood, with children during your parenthood, and with your grandchild during your late adulthood.
I’m grateful to my parents and my friend Erik for introducing me to laser tag in my early school days, and now it has become my passion in my adult stage. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me in this world.

How Old Is Too Old For Laser Tag?
It depends on the person’s mental and physical strength when they are going to surrender. As we discussed, you can play from 6 to 70 and many more years. If you have physical limitations or restrictions, consult your doctor. However, there is no age limit set by healthcare lobbies. But if you have any medical history, then consult with professionals as the game demands lots of physical activities.
With such a diverse spectrum of technological revolution in the digital age, today’s youngsters are constantly exposed to new and interesting types of entertainment— thanks to the FAANG world.
Unfortunately, this makes it even more enticing to spend less time outside, in contrast to prior generations, who would spend a large amount of time enjoying the great outdoors. If you’re wondering how my quarter-life crisis is going, at the age of 28 — I’m preparing to play laser tag again.
Enjoy the game with family and friends, and remember a wise man’s advice “Age is not how old you’re but how many years of fun you’ve had!”
